Meet The Artist: Shelby Rae
Shelby is the painter, muralist, and designer behind Shelby Rae Studio in Bluffton, South Carolina. She earned her law degree before a truer calling tugged her sleeve hard enough to change course entirely — she traded corporate for canvas, and never looked back.
Shelby’s signature move is go-big-or-go-home: large-scale murals that turn a blank wall into the conversation piece of the room, live-painted mirrors that bring real “wow” to a party, and mini prints guests will absolutely fight over as favors.
Her newest collection, “Party Animals” — a giddy series of watercolor creatures clutching cocktails — is exactly the playful-meets-polished energy she brings to every project.
The studio runs on a full creative staff: two Maine Coon cats, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and one remote assistant horse (attendance policy: flexible). Together they supply an endless stream of entertainment, mischief, and inspiration — with a darling husband keeping the whole operation more or less on schedule.
When she’s not elbow-deep in paint, you’ll find her on the hunt for the next wall, mirror, or napkin that needs a little color.
